Deepavali or Diwali, is the biggest and most important festival of the Hindus. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (or deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolise the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. On 5th November 2015, the FIS Ipoh celebrated Deepavali. The preparations for this festival started a week before .Our learners performed multiple songs including dancing , along with a presentation of their summative assessment.The highlight of the celebration was when our PYP studenst performed the Zumba to the beat of the famous “Lungi Dance” song. There was a large Kollam arranged by the teachers. Our learners and educators showcased their talents ranging from dancing, singing, drawing to even rapping. Our event was a huge success with lots of positive comments flowing in. The event ended with a “ranggoli” making session, giving the students an opportunity to experience some Hindu culture. This event also managed to raise more than RM600 for an orphanage through the sale of murukku and omopudi by the students. |  |
